Can you make me do something I don't want to do?
No! Your own beliefs and values will protect you from doing anything you really would feel to be wrong.
How many sessions will I need?
Some things can be sorted out in one session - most phobias for example. I usually take two sessions for smoking. Some things take a lot longer - it's important to go at the client's own speed. The number of sessions will be discussed at the first visit, although the final number may not become apparent until later.
Will it work for me?
If you really want it to! It's no good coming because someone else tells you to, it won't work! Sometimes, there are hidden reasons why you are benefiting from the problem - and these have to be explored - sometimes the benefit is greater than the cure. For example, a man may be near retirement age, have a backache and know he could go early, get a good pension, and leave a job he hates - so - he has no incentive to be cured!
But most people do want to feel better, they do want to deal with stress effectively, and it nearly always has some benefit.
Do you give a guarantee?
No, never! I cannot honestly say my treatment will always work, some of it is up to you! I can promise to give you my best attention and skills while you are with me, and to teach you techniques which will help - but YOU do the work, I guide you!
