ABOUT ME!

I am a medical doctor, now retired, and I have spent most of my working life in Cumbria, much of it working with children.

DSCF0074One day I had a leaflet through the post, describing a method of learning French, by relaxing in a comfortable chair, closing your eyes and listening to relaxing music!

"That's for me", I thought!

I found that it really wasn't quite that easy, but I did become very interested in accelerated learning, and, from this, in NLP.

I took the Practitioner followed by the the Master Practitioner and then the Health Practitioner courses in London. I started very sceptical, but I saw some interesting results. Part of the course was a weekend of hypnosis. Later, I went on several more courses in hypnosis, developing my skills, and intergrating this with my small NLP clinic. The two therapies work hand in hand, each complimenting and strengthening the other.

But, I am a doctor first of all. I passionately believe that we should be working WITH and never as an alternative to standard medical practice. I almost always write to the client's GP (with their permission), just to allow their "proper doctor" to be aware of what is going on.

The client's safety is my first concern, and, unless the problem is a quick to solve, simple thing (like most phobias), then I do a full hypno-assessment. This will tell me if there are contra-indications to hypnosis, sometimes their own doctor's permission to go ahead is advisable. It tells me the best way to speak with the client, and gives them a more detailed knowledge about the ways they think and the causes of their problem.......and it often gives me the clues as to how to help them cure themselves.

I have recently attended a course on hypno-esi-therapy - specifically for pain relief, although it does have other uses as well. This is a very powerful technique and the results were very impressive. I am starting a pain relief clinic to use this training.

I was delighted to be accepted as "Senior Qualified in Hypnotherapy Practice" by the General Hypnothery Council, and I am finding their audit tools very helpful. I am also a member of the British Society of Clinical and Academic Hypnosis and I am a Master Practitioner in NLP.
