NEUROLINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING (NLP)

NLP could be described as the study of excellence. Back in the 1970s, two researchers studied some of the most successful therapists of the day. They asked what it was that made them so effective.

They found that there were patterns of behaviour, which, if reproduced by others, also resulted in excellent results. From this a set of tools has been developed and expanded to produce some of the most powerful ways to live a happier, more worthwhile life.

NLP allows you to change the way you think about something. It won't alter the content - but it can profoundly alter how you feel and behave about it. It works by knowing how language affects the brain in specific ways, and teaches you how to structure your language to communicate more effectively and accurately.

The name - rather long and difficult, gives us clues as to what it is about:

  • neuro                         of the nervous system
  • linguistic                     about language and communication
  • programming              about patterns of behaviour

Some of the conditions NLP can be used to help with to great effect are:

  • phobias
  • greed
  • trauma

and there is a spelling technique which makes life a lot easier for the really poor speller!

Many people who come to see me say they have lost direction in their life, are not really feeling themselves - and NLP can help refocus one's energy and improve feelings of selfworth. It's a great builder of self confidence, you really can believe in yourself.
