Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years in many countries, to heal, to empower and to improve the quality of life. It can be readily adapted to compliment many medical treatments.
Yet hypnosis is a natural state, which we all of us fall into and come out of all the time. Have you ever tried to talk to someone who is engrossed in a tevision programme? They are in a light trance state! Have you ever noticed a bruise on yourself, which you cannot remember getting? You were in a medium state of hypnosis, enough to not feel the pain! And - have you ever been looking for something - and you cannot see it even tho' it's right befor your eyes? This level of trance is really quite deep, not seeing something that is really there! And we all do it!
In hypnotherapy, we simply choose to allow the therapist to assist us in going into a trance - at a time of our own choosing. And, as you can see, hypnosis is just not the same as sleep!
Healing in trance state is one of the oldest medical arts. It enables someone to access their own inner consciousness, and alleviate symptoms in the most appropriate way for that particular person. They remain in control - the therapist acts as guide and protector.
Healing takes place at a subconscious level and hypnotherapy can be used in a wide variety of conditions, amongst them are:
stress relief
stopping "bad" habits like smoking and nail biting
weight management
pain amelioration
anger control
phobias
or just seeking a better way forwards
Every person has their own unique set of values and beliefs. For hypnosis to work, these have to be respected. Hypnotherapy is a partnership, a delicate dance between therapist and client. Clients leave refreshed, relaxed and strengthened.
